Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has hailed boxer M.C. Mary Kom for another gold medal-winning feat at the 13th International Silesian Women's Boxing Championship at Gliwice, Poland.

Mary Kom beat Aigerim Kassanayeva of Kazakhstan by an unanimous 5-0 verdict from the judges.

"We are indebted to her as she keeps on making Manipur shine in the international arena. We are behind her," the chief minister said.

Mary Kom could not participate in the recent 18th Asian Games in Indonesia as she was nursing an injury.

MC Mary Kom was presented Rs 15 lakh by the state government for winning gold at the 21st Commonwealth Games in Australia, which was accepted by her family members.

Weightlifters S. Mirabai Chanu and Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu too were honoured with Rs 15 lakh each for winning gold.
