Jamshedpur, Oct. 28: Students of XLRI School of Business and Human Resources are gearing to host one of the biggest inter B-school events — Ensemble 2009 — starting November 13.

Idea Summit 2009, a part of Ensemble, will be attended by former billiards champion Michael Ferreira. Moreover, B-schools from across the country will compete to win the Rs two lakh prize money of Prometheus, a business strategy game conducted by the Finance Association at XLRI (FINAX).

"This year we have chosen a sportsperson for Idea Summit as we wanted people from various fields. The theme Integrity and Initiative does not apply only to business alone but to every sphere of life including sports. Other well-known corporate honchos will attend too," said a student of XLRI. Apart from Ferreira, the summit would be attended by N Sivaraman, executive vice-president (financial services), L&T, Tapan Mitra, chief of HR, Apollo Tyres and U.P.Agarwal, president, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

The three-day event will see students from various elite B-Schools of India participating in a wide spectrum of business plan contests, case studies, online simulation games covering all business functions like consulting, marketing, finance, human resources, systems and operations.

XLRI has sent out invitations to more than 100 B-schools in India. However, the entries would be shortlisted later. Last year, 200 students from 21 top Indian B-Schools institutes including the IIMs and ISB Hyderabad attended Ensemble. “In keeping with the sweeping changes in the world of management, the need for accountable and ethical managers is being felt more than the need for over-ambitious and aggressive managers. The theme thus resonates with the principles and ideals of XLRI as it celebrates its 60th anniversary this year”, said Meesam Rizvi, general secretary of the Students Council.
