Jamshedpur: Acting on a tip-off, police on Saturday unearthed an illegal liquor factory at Mirzadih village in Bodam, about 10km from the steel city, on Saturday.

Two persons, including factory owner and Sonari resident Satish Kumar (48) and his lone staff Arjun Mukhi (25), have been arrested.

During the raid police also seized 12 cartons of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottles of various brands, fake labels, corks of liquor bottles, spirit, colour and a sealing machine.

Bodam thana OC Tanzil Khan said Kumar had been running the liquor racket at Mirzadih for the last eight months.

"The factory was located in a single-storeyed building at an isolated place in Mirzadih. When we raided the place, the factory owner and his lone staff were present. We immediately nabbed them and seized the IMFL and countrymade liquor from the factory," said Khan.

The OC further said they seized the machine used to seal the countrymade liquor. "Kumar used sachets and had installed a machine similar to the one used by Jharkhand excise department to manufacture countrymade liquor," added the OC.

Khan further said he would send the samples of seized countrymade liquor and IMFL to a Ranchi-based lab to get chemical tests done.
