A permanent toll-free number 1950 on the official website of state chief electoral officer, www.ceojharkhand.nic.in, has received over 2,000 complaints of voter ID card errors since it was floated on March 2.

According to an official A.K. Prasad, voters have become concerned about discrepancies in their electoral photo identity cards after Election Commission announced three-day Lok Sabha polls in the state on April 10, 17 and 24.

“On an average, we are receiving 50 to 60 calls every day related to spelling mistakes in the names and incorrect date of births,” Prasad said.

Most callers have a common query whether they would be able to exercise their franchise in general elections or not. “Yes, they can,” Prasad said.
