Giridih, May 20: Akshay Kedia has been a privileged child in more than one sense. Unlike many others, he did not have to search for inspiration elsewhere than his family.

Akshay, the Giridih district topper in this year’s ICSE exam, with 95 per cent marks, is the third one in his family who has donned the topper’s tag.

For Akshay, his elder siblings, Piyush and Vidisha have always been a source of inspiration. In 2005, both Piyush and Vidisha Kedia secured 94 per cent marks and topped in Giridih. Now both are waiting for their Plus Two exam results. While Piyush aims for MBA, Vidisha, who wishes to be a doctor, is preparing for her medical entrance examination.

The eldest of the Kedia siblings, Swati, is now doing chartered accountancy after completing her graduation from Shri Shikshayatan College, Calcuttta, considered among the top 10 girls’ colleges in the country.

Coincidentally, all the four Kedia children have studied in Carmel School, Giridih, till the Class X.

Their parents are obviously overjoyed with the achievement of their children.

Sharwan, a chartered accountant, and Rita Kedia, who is a social activist, have always provided them with best facilities to excel.

“All these are happening because our parents have given us excellent support and environment to excel. The credit goes to our parents,” said Swati.

Akshay has secured 665 out of 700 marks and is very focused on the future.

“I want to become a pilot but I know it is not possible as mummy would not allow me, so I would do an MBA. But first I would take admission in commerce in R.K. Puram, Delhi,” said Akshay.
