New Delhi: Kodalia Prasanna Banga High School, South 24 Parganas, made a triumphant start to their Subroto Mukherjee Cup campaign Wednesday. In a group two encounter, the Bengal school champions overcame Bagafa Ashram High School, South Tripura 2-1. Striker Ranikanti Ghosh scored the goals for Kodalia early in the first half.
Playing in the 4-4-2 formation, Kodalia enjoyed midfield domination. Overlapping right back Suprakash Haldar sent a low cross in the ninth minute and Ranikanti prodded in.
Two minutes later, they took a short flag kick and the striker scored with a crisp angular shot from the top-box.
The Tripura school got a lucky reducer when Kodalia’s goalkeeper Ramen Naskar fumbled with a long ranger by Reang Binanda and let it slip into the goal.
Kodalia are representing Bengal following the suspension of Sukantanagar High School and Madhyamgram High School for fielding over-aged players in the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy.
