Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Darren Sammy was a happy man after his side beat the formidable Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in their last home match in IPL VII, in Hyderabad, on Tuesday.

“It feels good… we needed this win because it was our last match in front of these beautiful fans,” said Sammy after the match.

A dejected RCB captain Virat Kohli, on his part, said even though he played a good knock, he is not happy about as it didn’t help his side win the match. “As far as my batting is concerned, I was looking to step up for the team. I was not bothered much about my batting. No contribution is good enough if you don’t win the game. We just want the team to win,” said Kohli.

Darren Sammy: It feels good… we needed this win because it was our last match in front of these beautiful fans. I had said at the toss that 150 was the score we were looking to chase. But I think they have got away a bit. AB and Kohli played well for them. The last two overs in the first innings got us back in the match. And then Shikhar and Warner got us off to a great start, and 160 wasn’t enough in the end.

We have not played well so far, but we still have a chance to qualify. We just have to play well in the next couple of matches.

Virat Kohli: We did pretty well to get 160 on this wicket. The Sunrisers batsmen batted well initially, but with 20 needed from last two overs, we were backing ourselves. I think we didn’t bowl well at the death and couldn’t execute the yorkers right.

As far as my batting is concerned, I was looking to step up for the team. I was not bothered much about my batting. No contribution is good enough if you don’t win the game. We just want the team to win.

David Warner (MoM): It felt different batting at the top of the order. I was looking to bat until the end when I was batting at No. 4. While starting the innings, I was looking to get as many runs as possible in the first six overs.

It was good to partner with Shikhar up front even though he got through an unfortunate run-out. But it was great batting with him at the top of the order.
