Calcutta/Mohali: Kolkata Knight Riders opener Chris Lynn believes the side will pull itself up, as the league phase of IPL X is at its business end.

Of late, the Knight Riders have been a tad inconsistent with their performances and Wednesday's loss to Kings XI Punjab was really baffling, considering the start provided at the top by Lynn and Sunil Narine. However, Lynn feels the new batting order needs to be given a little bit of time to settle down.

"We have got a new combination with myself and Sunil coming together, and Robbie (Robin Uthappa) coming back into the side. So, we can't expect miracles first up with the new batting line-up," Lynn said in Mohali.

"In saying that, I think our rivals are pretty scared of this line-up as well. I think we have still got a lot of positives out of the game and we will be fine very soon," Lynn added.

No matter what happens in the coming matches, the team has to focus on winning their final league-phase tie which is against Mumbai Indians at the Eden on Saturday. "Obviously, we are disappointed at the loss against Kings XI.

"We could not get full points at the end of the day. If we lose the next one, we could be in for trouble. So, there's a challenge ahead. We do need one big performance against Mumbai Indians in our next game... We've to perform well," Lynn said.

Asked what was the turning point of Wednesday's match against Kings XI, Lynn replied: "The dot balls between the sixth and the 11th over dented our scoring rate."

He, however, gave full credit the way Kings XI bowlers bowled and restricted his team. "Obviously, we tried to win the match in whatever shape and form, and it went down to the wire. We just lost two quick wickets and momentum is huge in cricket, as you all know, but it's the way how things panned out.

"Kings XI bowlers did quite well to restrict us."

The Australian batsman said that Knight Riders hade started well, but lost the plot in the middle overs as Kings XI bowlers did exceedingly well in the Powerplay. "The way they bowled after the Powerplay speaks highly of their talent.

"Me and Gautam (Gambhir) were cruising along nicely when Rahul Tewatia got him out. We got quite close, but lost in the end unfortunately," he said.

Knight Riders' principal owner Shah Rukh Khan, however, remains confident that his team will make the play-offs.

"Lost our way a bit tonight...does not mean we can't reach the destination. Onward with more resolve...lov u boys. @lynny50 well played. Ami KKR," Shah Rukh tweeted on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Kings XI pacer Mohit Sharma lauded his team for coming out on top despite being under pressure in the first of their must-win games. "I think it is important to have pressure on you. If there is no pressure, then there is a problem somewhere.

"Pressure is important when you are playing because it can bring out your best in you. It indeed brought out our best," Mohit said.

Lying at the fifth spot in the league table with 12 points from as many games, Kings XI cannot afford to falter again in their last two league matches in order to be in contention for the play-offs. Taking on Mumbai Indians on Thursday, they cross swords with an upbeat Rising Pune Supergiant in Pune on Sunday.

"T20 is such a game where big names don't matter. A team is good if it performs on a given day, which is what counts. The team which plays it's best game on a given day wins.

"In T20, you must have seen that a team which is at the top loses against a side which is placed at say, number eight. We will focus on our processes and try to execute our plans well in the upcoming games," he said.
