Calcutta, Aug. 4 :    Calcutta, Aug. 4:  PORT TRUST 1 TOLLY 1 Nobody had to be told which team had Lady Luck?s backing at Kishore Bharati Stadium today. So generous was her support for the men in bright orange that Tollygunge Agragami escaped with a draw when they could so easily have been torpedoed by a late deluge of goals. There is no saying whether Calcutta Port Trust (CPT) will again have an opportunity to sink Tollygunge, now an emerging force on the local football scene. They did this afternoon but were let down by atrocious marksmanship. It seems nobody told the players ? their Nigerian trio in particular ? that goals are what matter. Sandip Ghosh?s low drive, following a deep run down the right, which grazed the near post before going past Tollygunge goalkeeper Bivash Ghosh gave CPT the lead in the 54th minute. Tollygunge equalised four minutes later when Moses Owira headed home Aboyemi Isiaka?s free-kick, awarded after Jayanta Chakraborty needlessly scythed Jayanta Sen near the left touchline. But there was more to the story than just two quick goals being shared. With makeshift left-back Biswarup Bishu having a poor match, CPT were repeatedly opening up the right flank. In the last 17 minutes, they wasted two sitters and forced Tollygunge into two goalline saves. Burly Nigerian forward Christian Okolonkwo missed the first, shooting hastily into the side-netting instead of knocking the ball into an empty goal. Compatriot Ifiani followed, blasting over from close. Then Solomon, the third African faltered. Bivash blocked Okolonkwo?s shot and the rebound fell invitingly in Solomon?s path but he couldn?t bang it past Isiaka on the goalline. Two minutes from time, CPT central defender Robi Karmakar?s header, off Sudip Mullick?s corner, was cleared on the goalline by Sen. CPT could have taken the lead earlier had they capitalised on one of the two gilt-edged chances they got on either side of half-time. The first went abegging when both Solomon and Sanjit Saha failed to touch Okolonkwo?s 36th minute cross from the right. Okolonkwo squandered the second, incredibly misdirecting his left-footer from inside the six-yard box when he had only Bivash to beat. CPT now have nine points from seven matches while Tollygunge have 11 from six. The two points CPT couldn?t collect today could cost them dear when battle hots up for championship play-off.
