| Sinimole was adjudged best athlete |
Kochi: Bengal heptathlete Sushmita Singha Roy, representing the Railways bagged gold with 5434 points while J.J. Shobha (Railways) and K. D. Sindhu (Kerala) grabbed silver and bronze, respectively, in the 48th National Open Athletic Championship on Thursday.
On the final day, while Railways defended the overall team title with a total of 60 medals — 27 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze — second placed Services managed six gold, four silver and eight bronze from the meet.
Host Kerala finished third with three gold, three silver and five bronze.
Hurdler Joseph G. Abraham and middle distance runner Sinimole Paulose of the ONGC were adjudged the Best Athlete of the meet in the men’s and women’s sections, respectively.
