Iker hints at retirement
Madrid: Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas has given a strong indication that he will retire from international football. The 35-year-old did not play in any of Spain's four games at Euro 2016 with national team coach Vicente del Bosque going with Manchester United's David De Gea in goal. On his Twitter handle, Casillas said: "I don't know where, but I'm going. I'm proud to feel the love of the people today and as always, everyone together for the national team."
Set for Chelsea
Paris: Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi is set to join Chelsea from Olympique Marseille, French sports daily L'Equipe reported on Wednesday. The 22-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract for the Premier League side for a transfer fee of some $44.3 million.
ATK recruits
Calcutta: Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) have recruited three more foreigners for ISL III. Scottish midfielder Stephen Paul Pearson and two Spaniards - goalkeeper Daniel Castro and centre-back Pablo Jose Gallardo Zurera - are the new recruits. The 33-year-old Pearson, who played for Kerala Blasters in ISL I, had previously played for Motherwell FC, Celtic and Derby County.
Arata for Pune City
Pune: FC Pune City reinforced their midfield options by snapping up experienced footballer Arata Izumi for the third edition of the ISL. Izumi will join Antonio Lopez Habas in the franchise.
U-13 league
New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will be launching an Under-13 National League next year. Kushal Das, the AIFF general secretary, said the league would be open to under-13 teams of the Indian Super League, I-League and academies certified by the national federation.

New Delhi: Indian-origin British boxer Sanjeev Singh Sahota will trade punches with Haryana pugilist Vikas Lohan in one of the five undercard fights during WBO Asia Pacific Middleweight Championship, featuring Vijender Singh against Kerry Hope, on July 16.

Calcutta: Jaipur Pink Panthers beat Telugu Titans 28-24 at a Pro Kabaddi Season IV game in Jaipur. In the first game of Women's Kabaddi Challenge, skipper Mamtha Poojari led from the front as Firebirds beat the Ice Divas.

Calgary: Indian shuttlers had a good day in office at the Canada Open as RMV Gurusaidutt, Pratul Joshi and Harsheel Dani crossed the opening hurdle to reach the second round of the Grand Prix badminton tournament here.

Calcutta: Sudip Chatterjee's name has been proposed for the Cricketer of the Year award for the 2015-16 season while Arun Lal's name has been proposed for CAB's Lifetime Achievement award. Ashok Dinda's name is doing the rounds for the Best Bowler of the Year award.
