Calcutta: Perhaps it would be too early to say 'like father like son', but young Austin is certainly on the right path.

Austin is son of former Australia captain and a legend in himself Steve Waugh.

As New South Wales Metro won Cricket Australia's 2016-17 Under-17 National Championships, Austin emerged as the star of the match registering an unbeaten century.

At the Allan Border Field in Brisbane, NSW Metro were far too strong for Queensland, recording a 152-run win.

According to a Cricket Australia media release, Austin's unbeaten 122 came off just 136 deliveries, and included four fours and four sixes, after NSW Metro had slipped to 57/4.

The teenager propelled his side to a total of 274/6 in 50 overs. NSW Metro dismissed Queensland for 122 in reply to secure a big victory.

Brief scores: NSW Metro 274/6 in 50 ovs (A. Waugh 122 n.o, A. Bariol 85; Ward 3/58) . Queensland 122 in 34.1 ovs (Iain Carlisle 3/24). NSW Metro won by 152 runs.
