Calcutta: The Diffident-Cadenza filly Bold Raider justified her even-money odds when she cantered home with the Calcutta Fillies Trial Stakes, the first classic of the season on Wednesday.
Jockey B. Prakash had the Daniel David-trained youngster settled about three lengths behind her stable-mate, Regal Fortune, till top of the straight before kicking clear of the field.
Annabee, the second favourite, brought about the biggest disappointment as the Vijay Singh-trainee finished a poor fourth after losing some ground at the start.
Prakash was, nevertheless, in great form winning four races on the day. Starting off with a short-head victory on La Fantasie, Prakash went on to guide Gallant Romeo and Predecessor to easy victories in their respective events.
