London: Young wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel struck a magnificent career-best 129 to place India A in a position from where they can push for victory against Yorkshire in the three-day match at Headingley Thursday.
Patel’s maiden first-class hundred helped the visitors declare their first innings at 336 for eight — for a lead of 90 over Yorkshire’s 246. Yorkshire ended Day 2 at 27 for one.
Coming in at the fall of vice-captain Hemang Badani with the total reading 112, Patel played like an experienced batsman, facing 146 balls during his 176-minute stay at the crease. He hit 22 fours.
Wasim Jaffer scored 67 with 15 fours. Leg-spinner Amit Mishra contributed an unbeaten 52 with four fours and a six.
