Ludhiana/ Kolhapur: Mohun Bagan recorded their first win in the I-League when they defeated JCT 1-0 in a fifth round at the Guru Nanak Stadium here Thursday. After both teams failed to break the deadlock in the first half, Manish Maithani scored the all-important goal in the 67th minute .
Maithani found the net after he made use of a pass from Subair Murithala Ali.
Even as Subhas Bhowmick’s Bagan finally gave their fans something to cheer about after a jittery start to their campaign that included a 0-2 defeat to Churchill Brothers, things only got worse for JCT who are now struggling at the bottom of the table.
Meanwhile, ONGC’s search for their maiden win in the I-League continued after Pune FC rallied from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw in Kolhapur.
Trailing 0-1 for a major part of the match, the visitors scored through Mandjou Keita in the 88th minute .
In Margao, an injury time goal by Okolie Odafe salvaged Churchill Brothers to a 1-1 draw against a 10-man Viva Kerala at the Nehru Stadium.
