Calcutta: Ansumana Kromah was a happy man on Monday. Not because he was the Man of the Match in Mohun Bagan’s CFL opener against Southern Samity, but because his team won.

Speaking after the match, the Liberian striker, who scored Bagan’s opening goal, said: “Yes, I have been adjudged the Man of the Match. But that is not important, it is much more significant that we won the match. It’s not an individual game. I’m happy that we did well collectively.”

Bagan scored all their goals in the second half to win 3-0. Kromah said that their midfield took time to find their rhythm. “In the first-half, we were not functioning properly. We were lacking in the midfield. But that’s football… We came back strongly in the second half,” Kromah said.

The No.5 also said that advice from Jose Ramirez Barreto, who was present at the ground on Monday, and pep talk from coach Shankarlal Chakraborty helped them.
