The Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) on Monday made the national final cut in the sixth edition of the McDowell’s Signature Club Golf Championship, to be held in Bangkok next month.
In the regional final at the RCGC here on Monday, the hosts outplayed six other teams to grab the elite spot from the eastern region.
The RCGC team was represented by Akshay Butta and Gaurav Ghosh in the 0-8 handicap category, Manish Goenka and Pradeep Bhaumik in the 9-16 handicap category and Naresh Keyal and Prakash Shah in the 17-24 category. The team logged 124 stableford points to finish on top.
Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa from Kathmandu Nepal finished second with 110 points.
RCGC will face Eagleton Golf Resort (winners of southern leg), Noida Golf Course (winners of northern region) and BPGC (winners of western Leg) in the national final.
Mahadevi Birla set up the title-round clash with Modern High in the girls’ team championship of the Britannia 11th inter-school tennis tournament, organised by the IndianTennis Academy at the SAI Complex.
In the semi-finals played on Monday, Mahadevi Birla earned a 2-0 win over St Thomas while Modern HS defeated La Martiniere for Girls 2-1.
Modern High and La Martiniere will clash in the girls final of the Frank Anthony Public School basketball tournament.
In the semi-finals, Modern High accounted for Loreto Dharmatala 14-9 while La Martiniere for Girls demolished St John’s 58-08.
In the boys’ section, Frank Anthony Public School, Assembly of God Church, Bharati Vidya Bhavan and Julien Day completed thesemi-final field.
BASKETBALL: Inter-school meet at Frank Anthony Public School from 11am.
CRICKET: Polly Umrigar Trophy — Bengal vs Sikkim at JU, Salt Lake campus from 10am
TENNIS: Boys’ semi-finals inter-school meet at SAI Complex from 9.30am onwards.
