The All India Football Federation, in a first-of-its-kind move in the country, has brought players, officials as well as spectators under an insurance scheme for the upcoming Tata Federation Cup, kicking off here on Saturday.
It has been learnt that each player and official has been insured for Rs 1lakh while a Rs 50,000 insurance package has been earmarked for each spectator.
Meanwhile, Salgaocar SC of Goa arrived in the city on Tuesday afternoon. They will take on Indian Bank of Chennai on the opening day. Mohammedan Sporting and ITI will also clash on the same day.
Indian junior boys’ volleyball team got the better of Egypt in a practice match on Monday. According to information received here, India edged past the world championship qualifiers 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 15-9 in the second practice tie during their tour of the north African nation.
The first practice match between the two nations were tied at two sets all before it was cancelled because of electricity failure in the hall.
India had earlier played a few practice matches in Tunisia as well, as their preparation for the world championship in August.
India will play five practice matches with the Egyptian junior teams and another with the senior outfit.
