The Asia Cup gets underway in Sri Lanka on July 16. India get into the action on the opening day itself, against UAE in a group B day-nighter in Dambulla. Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly, however, is back in ‘action’. At the Eden on Monday he arrived in the afternoon, not disturbing the P. Sen Trophy quarter final between Tapan Memorial and CAB President’s XI, and jogged around the perimeter fence. It was his first workout after the tour of Pakistan, which ended just over a month ago. Sourav did stretching exercises and kept to a light schedule before climbing back in his car to leave an hour later. With him was his friend, cricketer Jaideep Mukherjee.

In the semi-finals President’s XI await the winners of the East Bengal-George Telegraph match in Kalyani and Tollygunge will take on the winners of the Mohun Bagan-Sporting Union tie at the Eden. Both these matches will be held on Tuesday.
