Calcutta: Atletico de Kolkata (ATK)'s marquee player Helder Postiga is uncertain for the team's away encounter against Mumbai City FC, which is schedule on October 11.
Postiga, who suffered a rib injury during the last match against Kerala Blasters in Kochi, had undergone an MRI to ascertain the nature of the injury. The test report showed the injury was a minor one.
However, the Portuguese has been advised rest. "He has been advised rest and it appears that he may be able to play soon. We expect Postiga to continue playing a vital part in the team's goal to lift the trophy for the second time," ATK said in a release on Friday. Though Postiga started practising on Friday, it was learnt that ATK coach Jose Molina might not risk him against Mumbai City. But he may travel with the team to Mumbai.
Postiga played only 74 minutes in the previous edition of ISL. This season, he played 84 minutes in ATK's opening match against Chennaiyin FC before suffering a rib injury against the Blasters earlier this week. The franchise, meanwhile, has roped in Portuguese Henrique Sereno as a replacement for the injured Pablo Gallardo.
