Calcutta: Even as Gautam Gambhir has been leading Kolkata Knight Riders to a rather successful campaign in the IPL X, his thoughts have not been confined to the cricket field.

Moved by the plight of the children who lost their fathers in the recent Maoist attack in Chattisgarh's Sukma district on CRPF men, Gambhir has decided to support the children of all the 25 men killed, through his foundation.

The foundation will take care of the educational expenses of the martyrs' children.

"The quantum of losing a dear one while serving the country can never ever be compared to losing a cricket match," Gambhir tweeted on Friday. He had earlier announced that "The Gautam Gambhir Foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of these martyrs."

After the Knight Riders' win over the DareDevils at the Eden on Friday, Gambhir said that the entire money from whatever awards he has earned so far in this IPL will go to CRPF jawans.

"Whatever awards I've earned, the entire money goes to CRPF jawans," he said at the post-match presentation.

Gambhir posted newspaper reports with two pictures with the tweet "I picked up newspapers and saw gut-wrenching pictures of the daughters of 2 CRPF men killed in the latest attacks."
