Nottingham, June 10 :     Sourav Ganguly, who missed Tuesday?s Super Six game against Pakistan, is ?much better? and hopes to play against New Zealand on Saturday. ?The swelling (on the right knee) is appreciably less and the pain has also subsided,? Sourav told The Telegraph shortly before setting out for an afternoon workout at Trent Bridge. At nets, Sourav only faced a few ?soft? deliveries and will have a full workout tomorrow morning. ?I?m hopeful, but let?s see,? he said, later today. Sourav, it may be recalled, got injured while bowling to Anil Kumble at nets on Sunday. Despite cortisone injections, he wasn?t able to play at Old Trafford. ?Just bad luck... Perhaps, this too is destiny,? Sourav remarked, adding that the cortisone shot taken this morning would be the last. The ultra-sound treatment, however, will continue. Incidentally, Sourav had been hit by Jawagal Srinath at nets prior to the Zimbabwe match in Leicester, last month, and was also injured ? by Srinath, once again ? at Rajkot during the Titan Cup in late 1996. Probably it?s time, then, for some nets-specific prayers... Already praying, of course, is the entire Indian team. The Australian win yesterday, after all, has brought no relief where the scramble for semi-finals berths is concerned.
