Calcutta: Snehasish Ganguly, elder brother of former India captain and current Cricket Association of Bengal president Sourav, was "better" on Tuesday as compared to his condition the previous day.

On Monday, the 49-year-old Snehasish's condition had been "critical". He is down with a severe attack of dengue and has been at a South Calcutta nursing home for almost a week.

Snehasish's platelet count, which had dropped to 20,000, rose to around 41,000 during the day, giving some relief to his family, friends and business associates.

The good thing is that Snehasish is fully alert and, in the evening, was even heard saying "Virat Kohli is extraordinary" while briefly talking about India's massive win in the second Test in Jamtha.

However, Snehasish is extremely weak, still having temperature and is suffering from a complete loss of appetite.

Hopefully, Wednesday will be a much better day for the elder son of the Late Chandi Ganguly.
