Calcutta: Anirban Gupta and Ravikant Singh combined to dismiss Mohun Bagan for 280, leading East Bengal to a 25-run victory in the First Division Championship Play-off semi-final, on Thursday, at Eden Gardens.
The target of 306 on a flat Eden track wasn’t a daunting one, especially for Bagan’s strong batting line-up.
But Anirban (four for 104) and Ravikant (three for 30) bowled a tight line throughout the day, forcing the rival batsmen to err at crucial junctures.
Precisely, it was winning the key moments that eventually pulled East Bengal through.
