East Bengal win colts' Derby 1-0

East Bengal juniors beat Mohun Bagan by a solitary goal to seal their berth in the main round of the U-15 Youth League on Wednesday. Hasan Ali Molah scored the all-important goal in the first half.

Calcutta: East Bengal juniors beat Mohun Bagan by a solitary goal to seal their berth in the main round of the U-15 Youth League on Wednesday. Hasan Ali Molah scored the all-important goal in the first half.

East Bengal qualified by topping the city leg with 23 points from ten matches. Mohun Bagan have 20 points from ten games.

The 14-year-old Hasan Ali had scored during the first-leg encounter between the two teams at Barasat which Mohun Bagan won 2-1. Wednesday's achievement was extra special, said the boy from East Bengal Academy.

"Winning against Mohun Bagan and that too at their home ground is special. It's a great feeling... " said Hasan Ali. "Despite scoring in the first-leg, I couldn't celebrate since we lost. Today's goal gave me immense satisfaction."
