New Delhi: Rahul Dravid, who bid adieu to Test as well as domestic cricket on Friday, received rich tribute from all over the world. Following are the excerpts (alphabetically, Indians first):

Anil Kumble: I am really fortunate to have played alongside Dravid… He has been a friend and a colleague I depended on for advice. He was an inspiration and a role model. Every moment I have played with him, he has been quiet, unassuming and completely consumed by his enthusiasm and passion for the game… He is the perfect ambassador of cricket and an ideal team man... We expect him to be wearing an administrative coat in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA)…

Virender Sehwag (Twitter): Jam it was a pleasure & privilege to have played with u and ur presence in the dressing room always added to our confidence. Will miss u lots.

Harbhajan Singh: Cricket is defined as a gentleman’s game and Dravid is the perfect example of it. He has so much love for his colleagues and players who played with him. Even when he decided to quit, he called us up. What I liked about Dravid was his commitment to the game. Always a teamman...Perhaps, Rahul Dravid is the greatest legend of Indian cricket.

Jawagal Srinath: It was not a surprise and it was a well-planned one. He has done it at the right time and I completely endorse his decision…I don’t see Dravid’s value diminishing in any way since he has retired. I see his stature increasing.

Chris Gayle (Twitter): Congrats on a Fantastic, Superb International Career! The Great Legend Rahul Dravid !! The wall will be missed!!

Kevin Pietersen (Twitter): Rahul Dravid - LEGEND!! Plain & simple.. congrats on an incredible career!! India WILL miss the wall.

Michael Vaughan (Twitter): Rahul Dravid retires… The world’s most respected cricketer over the last 20 yrs... LEGEND.”

Shane Watson: I’m lucky that he’s my captain for Rajasthan Royals, so I’ll continue to talk cricket as much as I possibly can because I do love talking to him. He’s got a lot of knowledge to be able to give. (Agencies)
