Nominations can be filed only till 5pm, but Sourav arrived at the CAB after six in the evening, owing to “traffic snarls”. But given the current situation, uncertainty hovers over whether he would at all be filing the nomination.

“We’ll see tomorrow,” the former BCCI president said on Saturday after a round of meeting with some of the CAB officials, when asked whether he would be filing the nomination on Sunday, the last day for doing so.

“Tomorrow (Sunday) is the last day for filing nominations. Whether there would be an election (for any of the posts) or not will be known by five in the evening.

“So let’s see tomorrow what happens till five o’clock,” Sourav added.

All through the week, those expected to be part of Sourav’s panel were ruling out all possibilities of an election. But taking into account what Sourav said on Saturday, has any possibility of election for a post or two suddenly cropped up?

Even the CAB officials are unsure whether Sourav will be filing his nomination or not. “He’s yet to open up on this matter.

“Possibilities of an election still appear slim, but with so many candidates for various posts out there, maybe that has led to some kind of a confusion,” one of the officials said. “But you never know, he may still file it at 4.59pm on Sunday. You cannot rule anything out.”
