East Bengal’s Jaime Santos has been allowed to go with a fine by the AIFF disciplinary committee. This means Jaime is now eligible to play the match at Churchill Brothers on January 4.

The AIFF disciplinary committee slapped Jaime with a showcause notice as well as an interim suspension after he was alleged to have kicked a ball boy with the ball after the match against Punjab FC, held in Ludhiana on December 7.

“Since the ball didn’t hit the ball boy, we decided to just slap him with a Rs 1-lakh fine. He will also have to send an apology letter to the ball boy,” committee chairman Ushanath Banerjee said on Friday.

“We have also given a warning to Punjab FC and referee Umesha Bora.”
