Ashok Kumar clinches crown

Calcutta: Ashok Kumar blew the field away with a blazing 6-under par round to win The Hindu Open and land his fifth career title on the Amby Valley PGAI Tour at the Cosmo-TNGF Golf Course in Chennai on Friday.

According to information received here, Ashok, defending champion golfer of the year, claimed the title with two records to boot ? course and four round ? that no professional has achieved in the history of Indian golf tour. The Delhi pro had set the course record of ten under par 62 in the second round.

Mukesh Kumar of Mhow finished runner-up with a four under 274 followed by former champion, Vijay Kumar of Lucknow for the third spot with a tally of 277.

Atwal joint 13th

Arjun Atwal was tied at 13th position in the PGA Tour Texas Open at the end of Round 2. According to information received here, Atwal was tied with 11 other golfers at 134. The Indian had identical scores of 67 in the first two rounds.
