Calcutta: Raj Kumar Keshri, father of promising cricketer Ankit who passed away on April 20 succumbing to an on-field injury, has filed an FIR with the Bidhannagar Police Station on Thursday, blaming medical negligence for his son's death.

The 20-year-old was struck on the back of his head during a CAB senior knockout match, when he collided with a teammate while fielding.

In his complaint, Raj alleged that the AMRI Hospital, where his son was admitted on April 17, shifted him to another hospital without his consent.

"Ankit was shifted to Nightingale Nursing Home without my consent... I am still not aware what were the reasons to shift him when I was told that he was responding well to treatment. So I want to know why exactly my son died... I want a proper probe and will wait for the truth. There was obviously some medical negligence in the case," Raj told The Telegraph on Thursday.

Asked why did he wait for about a month before lodging the complaint, Raj said: "We lost our son... We needed time to recover. It's not just our loss, it's the loss of cricket."
