Calcutta: Five horses, including Mumtaz who has been assigned an elephantine impost of 64-1/2kg, are in the line-up for the 1,200m Bangalore Turf Club Trophy, the main attraction, on Sunday, the opening day of the winter season. The season was originally scheduled to start from Saturday but the paucity of acceptors forced the day’s cancellation. There are nine races in Sunday’s card and fields average out at seven runners per event. The race club officials are, however, sure that fields will improve as the season advances.
