SRI LANKA THRASH BHUTAN 5-0

Calcutta, March 1 :     Sri Lanka defeated Bhutan 5-0 in the international Army football tournament at Salt Lake stadium today. In a match dominated by the Lankans, H.V.R. Udayshri, S.D. Sarath, Prasanna, T.A. Silva and Sashi Gafur scored one goal each. The Lankans led 2-0 at the breather. The last goal came off a penalty, which Gafur converted. South Point in semis South Point entered the semi-finals of the CAB under-16 inter-school cricket tournament today, defeating Labanhrad Vidyalaya by six wickets. Chasing Labanhrad?s score of 191 for five wickets in the stipulated 35 overs, South Point notched up 192 in just 28 overs. Subhojit Paul?s unbeaten 83 was instrumental in his team?s victory. Howrah DSA win big Howrah DSA thrashed Presidency Muslim 14-0 in the third division hockey league match today. Khopia Ekka and Amit Minz scored five goals each. In another match, Islamia HS beat South 24 Parganas 2-0. Burdwan champions Burdwan, with 52.5 points, emerged overall champions in the 16th state primary schools sports meet, at SAI, Eastern Centre, yesterday. Coochbehar (41) came second, with Murshidabad (40) bagging the third spot. The boys? group was won by Hooghly, while Coochbehar came up trumps in the girls? section. Saheb Maitri of Hooghly was declared the individual champion among boys, while Burdwan?s Sulekha Manoti took the honours in the girls? section. AICRA meet The All India Cricket Research Institute (AICRI) will organise an all-India under-16 tournament from April 7 to 14, at Sodepur Club ground. About 40 schools will take part in the AICRI summer school cricket meet (under-16 and under-14) to be played in May, in Calcutta and various districts.
