Koraput: Police on Wednesday arrested a youth for allegedly circulating on social media an obscene video of his intimate moments with his former "girlfriend" in less than 48 hours of the incident.

The accused, Ram Krushna Reddy, a resident of Ganjam district, was arrested from Aska on Wednesday and was brought to Jeypore in the district on Thursday.

While working in a snacks manufacturing factory at Kamara in Borigumma police station area in the district, the accused had developed a relationship with a woman, who was also his colleague at the factory.

"The accused is married and has his family at Aska. Despite that, he maintained physical relationship with the woman while staying at Kamra," said Jeypore Sadar police station inspector-in-charge Kailash Chandra Sethy.

"However, when the woman's marriage got fixed elsewhere last month, Reddy objected to it," he said.

Sethy added that after the woman's marriage got fixed, Reddy initially tried to convince her not to get married.

"When he failed in his attempt, he planned to take revenge by circulating their intimate moments on social media. Reddy took his photographs with her on his mobile phone when they became intimate on April 13 and 14 and later circulated those online," said Sethy.

After the woman got married on April 20, Reddy collected the phone number of the groom's cousin and sent him some 36 video clips of his intimate moments with her.

On May 1, the groom filed a complaint at Jeypore Sadar police station regarding the viral video and expressed his unwillingness to stay with his newlywed wife anymore.

Police swung into action and tracked down Reddy.

"The case was dealt with on priority basis and the accused was traced to Ganjam district. A special team from the district police arrested him and interrogation is on," said Koraput police superintendent Kanwar Vishal Singh.

In another development, the administration has kept the woman at a short-stay home as her husband refused to allow her back into their home.

On Wednesday, Nabarangpur police arrested a youth for circulating online a video of his intimate moments with a minor tribal girl for which she later committed suicide.
