Bhubaneswar, May 22: The Youth Congress is planning to enrol 10 lakh youths in the state in the coming days. Today, the party launched a pre-membership awareness drive.
All India Congress Committee’s secretary Irshad Baig said necessary instruction has already been issued to all the district Congress committee presidents and block presidents to extend full cooperation to Youth Congress membership team during the enrolment drive.
All India Youth Congress secretary Mohd Shahanwaz said the pre-membership awareness drive would continue for another 20 days. The one-month long membership drive would be launched after that. “The party is also going to conduct internal elections of the Pradesh Youth Congress in the coming days,” he added.
During this organisational election and membership process, any person belonging to the age group of 18 to 35 years, who has a secular ideology and a clean image, can become a member of the Youth Congress. They can also contest elections for any post in the organisation and become the leader of the Youth Congress in Orissa.
According to the programme, organisational elections will be held from booth to state level. While the booth committee will comprise five members, Assembly constituency committees will have ten members each, Lok Sabha constituency committee will have 10 members each and the state level committee will comprise 10 members each.
“AICC secretary and in-charge of Youth Congress Jitendra Singh, Youth Congress president Rajiv Satav and young MPs and ministers will visit the state to intensify the enrolment drive,” he added.
