Varsity aims for upswing

The alumni association of Ravenshaw University today appealed to the state government and authorities concerned to convert the premier educational institution of Odisha into a world class varsity.

Cuttack, Jan 21: The alumni association of Ravenshaw University today appealed to the state government and authorities concerned to convert the premier educational institution of Odisha into a world class varsity.

Speaking at an international seminar help to mark the 150th year of the institution today, intellectuals stressed the importance of preparing a blueprint to improve the quality of education keeping in view changes as well as demands of present times. Vice-chairman of the special investigation team on black money Justice Arijit Pashayat said Ravenshaw University must always strive to produce the best students by imparting quality education.

He said: "Efforts should be made to ensure that Ravenshaw University becomes the role model for educational institutions not only in the state but also in the country."

"All former students should come forward to prepare a yardstick so that Ravenshaw University is the benchmark and leads by example in terms of producing extraordinary talent," said Pashayat.

Scholar Chandra Bhanu Satpathy stressed the introduction of new subjects to compete with students of various other universities and institutions across the world.

"Today, the alumni association has assured the Ravenshaw University authorities to assist them in chalking out a blueprint to work in tandem with state government to convert the institution into a world class university," said Satpathy, adding that Ravenshaw University should focus on introducing newer subjects that have a wider job creation opportunities across continents A second campus of Ravenshaw has already been proposed at Naraj and steps will be taken to ensure that new disciplines and departments other than the traditional courses are promoted on the new campus, he said.
