Bhubaneswar, Nov. 2: Mancheswar police today detained two persons in connection with a firing and looting incident, which took place last night at the Canal Road area in Mancheswar.

Three motorcycle-borne youths armed with pistols attacked three persons in a car and looted their belongings by blank firing and threatening them under gunpoint. Two victims, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), suffered injuries in the attack.

SPO Krishna Chandra Puspalak said he, along with his nephew and friend Prakash Jena, were going in the latter’s car from Prashanti Vihar in Patia to Chakeisiani, where his nephew was staying. Three youths on a motorcycle stopped them near Kalikama bridge.

“All of them were carrying pistols. They came to our vehicle and asked us why we did not let their vehicle go past. After firing two rounds in the air, they pointed the guns at us and took away my friend’s gold ornaments and other belongings of my nephew,” said Puspalak.
