Bhubaneswar, Jan. 11: Servicing your scooter or motorcycle is now just a click away.
Gobikee.com, a website built by two young entrepreneurs in the city provides motorcycle repairing and maintenance services on your doorstep.
Dharmendra Pradhan and Amitabh Pradhan started the website where riders can book an appointment with a motorcycle mechanic at their own convenience.
It has become very difficult for many people to take their bikes to service centres or garage owing to time constraints. These are the people the website can help," said Dharmendra, an engineer by profession. They started operations from Bhubaneswar last year with just three mechanics. At present, they have nearly 50 people working for them across the city. Young mechanics can register themselves with the website and work as service providers. A mechanic can earn anything between Rs 150 to Rs 400 an hour.
"Our instant quoting functionality, fast booking and secure payment makes us the simplest and most convenient way to book a mechanic," Dharmendra said.
Their services cover all aspects of two-wheeler work, ranging from repairing the engine and framing to minor facilities such as battery charging and clutch cable replacement. There is a rate chart available on the website.
The entrepreneurs have set up a kiosk at the ongoing Odisha Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Trade Fair on Exhibition Ground. Like them, a number of young entrepreneurs have set up kiosks at the fair to promote and showcase their works.
In its fourth edition, the MSME Trade Fair is focusing on agriculture, food processing, handicrafts, textiles, tourism, engineering, chemicals, metallurgical, plastics and polymers, marine processing and packaging.
A solar boat developed by the KIIT University is also gathering attraction. The boats do not produce sound unlike the conventional ones and are eco-friendly. Battery-operated public transport vehicles and coir separators are other innovative products displayed at the trade fair.
Around 300 kiosks showcasing various micro, small, and medium enterprises have been set up. A number of information centres have also been set up for entrepreneurs to gather knowledge on various aspects such as funding, setting up industries and marketing.
The week-long event that began on January 8, will include seminars and workshops, vendor development programmes, B2B meetings and deliberations on various business strategies.
"The fair is helpful in meeting investors and gathering ideas. I also came to know the investment opportunities in the logistic industry because I am interested in it," said Subrat Behera, a student at Utkal University.
