Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday arrested three youths for allegedly stripping a 14-year-old girl naked and making a video of the act.

The accused have been identified as Deepak Mahato, 23, Motila Mahato, 24, and Purushotam Mahato, 22. The police said the girl's father lodged a formal complaint with Sadar police station on Thursday.

The cops swung into action after the video had become viral on social networking sites. Though initially it had been suspected that the incident took place somewhere in Bhubaneswar, the police later confirmed that it occurred on the outskirts of Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.

The police said the incident had taken place in April.

In the video, the girl is seen requesting the three men not to record the incident. One of the youths also touched the girl inappropriately. The accused also forced a male companion of the victim to remove his clothes.

"The father of the victim told us that though the incident had taken place seven months ago, the family had been reluctant to lodge a case. But after the video was shared by the accused and went viral, they decided to seek police help," said a police official.
