Bhubaneswar: A three-day national-level workshop for undergraduate students was organised by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar.
The event - Wissen - is one-of-it's-kind and the only workshop held in Odisha for undergraduate students to acquire medical skills in various disciplines.
Delegates from all across the country -Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, among other places - attended the event to acquire knowledge of the basic medical skills every doctor must have.
Renowned faculties of the institute imparted knowledge to the students.
Multiple workshops were held by faculty members of surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, pulmonary medicine and orthopaedics departments.
Wissen aims at providing the knowledge of basic medical skills so that the upcoming doctors may serve the society in a better way ensuring quality of life, able to provide minimum health standards and to give the basic essential medical facilities.
Wissen has other aspects too, including national-level medical quizzes, demonstrating the gross specimens and advanced technologies used in the medical field to students so they may know about the richness and diversity medical field has and to attract them towards medicine.
Gitanjali Batamanabane, director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, inaugurated the event. She outlined the recent advances in medicine and contributions of researchers and engineers towards these advancements.
