Nuapada: Police have registereda case against eight persons, including the vice-chairman of notified area council, Chhabila Deep, for misbehaving with and threatening Dinabandhu Mahanand, the gynaecologist of the government hospital in the district.
The police have, however, not made any arrests yet. Police booked them persons after the doctor lodged a written complaint at Khariar police station on Wednesday.
Sources said eight persons, including Deep, stormed the doctor's residence on Monday in connection with a medical report that he gave about a person, who had been injured in a clash. They were not happy with the report, and misbehaved with him. They also threatened him.
The doctor alleged that someone again threatened him over a mobile phone on Monday evening. Investigating officer of the case Aditya Mahakud said the police had registered a case against the eight persons. "On the basis of the complaint by the doctor, we have booked the eight persons. We are investigating it and have not yet made any arrest," he said.
Deep has rubbished the allegation of the doctor as baseless. "We neither abused him nor did we threat him. We went there only to question the medical report he had issued. How could he give such a report as minor injury when the injured person was serious," he said.
