Bhubaneswar, May 13: Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) today imposed certain conditions on three private power distribution companies owned by Reliance Infra Limited, failing which their licence would be cancelled.
OERC has asked the private power distribution companies to comply with the conditions by September 30.
The OERC also asked the companies — Western Electricity Supply Company (Wesco), Southern Electricity Supply Company (Southco) and Northern Electricity Company (Nesco) — to initiate steps to improve their customer service and reduce the transmission and distribution loss.
The commission asked the three companies to settle all disputes related to the shareholder agreement and payment of NTPC’s bond by September 30.
It also directed the power distribution companies to arrange funds for capital investment, take effective steps for energy audit, arrest electricity theft, improve the standard of services to the consumers, take proactive steps to redress consumer grievances and settle disputes with Gridco with regard to NTPC bond and other dues.
