Bhubaneswar, June 12: The call of chief minister Naveen Patnaik to the district collectors to end corruption in the administration has stirred a controversy with the Opposition parties demanding a white paper.

Union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan today said: "The so-called claim of Naveen about clean and transparent government has been exposed... If he has the guts, Naveen should bring out a white paper," said Pradhan.

Congress chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati said: "After so many years, Naveen has suddenly become conscious of the issue now."

Naveen had yesterday reiterated his focus on transparency to ensure better service delivery to the people at large.

District collectors and senior bureaucrats today deliberated on better service delivery in municipal services and health care sector on the second day today.

The five working groups, constituted to deliberate upon key sectors involving the public in their daily life, also suggested ways and means for bridging the gaps and making service delivery hassle free for citizens.

The groups presented their suggestions to the government in the presence of Naveen, his ministerial colleagues and top bureaucrats including chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and development commissioner R. Balakrishnan.

Chief secretary Padhi said the suggestions given by groups were very useful. Feedback was also being collected from cross-sections of the population through a web portal. "As of now, around 160 suggestions on various sectors have been received from the people through this portal."
