
Bhubaneswar: A group of travel enthusiasts have come forward to promote heritage traditions of the state.
Members of the group will host an event at Raghurajpur on January 21 to create awareness about the heritage village and its traditions that has been in existence since centuries. They will encourage people to explore places and artefacts and go for activities, which will help them learn about stories and people of the past and present.
Raghurajpur boasts of a village where every home is an artist's studio. Foreigners from across the world will gather at the heritage village to work closely with expert craftsmen.
Trip4Fun, a tourism company based in Bhubaneswar, is hosting the event. The focus is on experiential tourism, the primary aim of the organisation is to promote unexplored locations of the state. They have collaborated with RIACE, a youth organisation, which has been working with local artists of Raghurajpur since the past few years.
"We aim to highlight heritage crafts and lifestyle of Odisha on national and international platforms and create awareness among the people about the state," said founder of Trip4Fun Anant Basudev.
Through the initiative, the participants will get an opportunity to explore and understand the lifestyle of the people of the village. They will also get a chance to witness and interact with international artists, who are collaborating with local craftsmen to create interesting artworks.
At the daylong workshop, the participants will get a chance to engrave their name on palm-leaf by indulging in the century-old Pattachitra art.
They will create artworks using the techniques of local craftsmen and witness the performances of traditional Gotipua dancers.
"A bonfire and a visit to the local betel vine are other activities planned for the participants. People from diverse backgrounds, including students, art and crafts enthusiasts, professionals and people with cultural inclinations will join the event," said co-ordinator of the event Kshitish Das.
