Bhubaneswar, Nov. 8: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the 1,300-bed Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital.
The new hospital will have 400 seats reserved for patients belonging to the below poverty line category. Referring to the poor access to health services, Naveen said the initiative would be able to take quality health care to the common people.
The multi-specialty facility is attached to the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in the city. The hospital at Patia offers round-the-clock emergency and super-specialty services in nephrology, cardiology and cardiothoracic, paediatrics surgery, gastroenterology, oncology and onco-surgery, plastic and cosmetic surgery, urology, neurology and neuro-surgery, endocrinology, rheumatology, said an official during the ceremony.
The hospital has 100 air-conditioned cabins, 100 ICU beds and 50 paediatric and neonatal ICU beds with ultramodern ventilator facility. This apart, it has 16 modern operation theatres, 24-hour casualty and trauma care, 24-hour high-end ambulance service, eight computerised dialysis machines and 24-hour blood bank facility, he said.
Achyuta Samanta, founder of the KIIT and the KISS, said the hospital aimed to provide modern medical treatment at an affordable cost. “We have tried to attract the best educated and experienced specialists and super-specialists from various nationally and internationally reputed medical colleges and research institutes,” he said.
Medical college principal B.C. Das said: “The hospital has a state-of-the-art central laboratory and radio diagnostics. Besides regular clinical investigations, the central laboratory has brought many advanced investigations to the state for the first time with its modern equipment.”
