Students to hold anti-UPA protests

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 4: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Prishad (ABVP) state unit decided to launch a series of programmes against the UPA government today. It will organise meetings and rallies at various college campuses and public places in the state this month.

Calling upon students to come together and voice their protest against the corrupt UPA government, the national students body today announced a campaign to bring in awareness among the youth in the state. “The 56th national conference of ABVP held at Bangalore between December 25 and December 28 where over 8,000 participants who had gathered from across the country, stressed for the pressing need to fight against corruption,” said Tanmay Das, state secretary.

“Several resolutions including creating awareness environment safety, terrorism and commercialisation of education were passed on the occasion,” he said.

“ABVP will hold an agitation against corruption in the UPA government across the state from January 6, 2011,” Das added. The national students’ body plans to hold a protest meeting on January 6. Similarly, campaigns at college campuses and public places will take place from January 15 to January 30.

“We will organise public discussions, conduct protests against the recent scams like 2G spectrum, Adarsh housing, Bofors scandal and Commonwealth Games,” Das added.
