Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24: The state government has invited applications from meritorious students who have passed Plus Two across various streams for allotting national scholarships.
Of the total 2,376 scholarships to be offered under the central scheme, 1,368 will be awarded to science candidates, 456 to arts and 912 to commerce applicants for a period of 10 months during an academic year.
The shortlisted candidates will receive Rs 1,000 a month at undergraduate level for three years and Rs 2,000 per month while pursuing postgraduate or professional courses.
The eligibility for the grants will be calculated purely on the basis of marks scored in the Plus Two exams, said Tushar Kanti Tripathy, secretary of the Council of Higher Secondary Education.
“Out of a total of 600 marks, a science candidate must have aggregate 394, while or arts and commerce students the minimum score has to be 332 and 360 respectively,” Tripathy said.
Only those who passed the Plus Two board exams as regular candidates this year and are not availing any other scholarships can apply for the central scholarship. Interested students can download the application form by logging on to www.dheodishaletterdetails.chse and submit it to the council by October 31.
Tripathy added that the applicants were also required to fulfil two other conditions – they must have enrolled for higher studies in any college or university for the current academic session, and the annual income of their parents should be within Rs 6 lakh.
“The renewal of this scholarship will depend on the scholars’ securing minimum 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade point average besides having an attendance of 75 per cent. The scholarships will be discontinued if we receive any complaints against the students regarding indiscipline or ragging,” he said.
