Bhubaneswar, June 24: In an age when fast-paced music, steamy item numbers, digitised fight sequences and slapstick dialogues are keeping the cash registers of the producers ringing, making an art house film can be considerably risky. But, for the team of Divine Art Creations (DAC), a risk is thousand times worth than making a trash film.

The first production of the DAC, Bansi: The Flute Player, promises to be the first Odia film that will represent the Odia social and cultural sensibilities to its core. Bansi, as the title suggests will tell a story of a village flute player. The entire story will revolve around his life and his journey.

The Bansi team, not much in a divulging mood, however, assured to score high on its music. “We will miss out on the essence of our title if we do not pay attention to our music. It is not necessary that an art film will have to be made without music. We have roped in music director Deepak Patnaik to take care of the music department,” said producer Dipti Ranjan Martha.

The shooting will begin from June 26 and the team has chosen some scenic locations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sakhigopal and Gangtok.

The star cast includes newcomer Rounak and Pinki Priyadarshini. But without the presence of any star power, won’t the art film lose its sheen? “Not at all,” said director Ajay Swain.

“If we go by the trend, it is the script which is the real hero of the film and not the actors. We have full faith in both our script and actors. Even though they are newcomers, they are a bundle of talent,” he said.

Debutante Rounak couldn’t hide his excitement at the subha mahurat (launch). “I consider myself very lucky to be a part of such illustrious project at such an early stage in my career. Though this is practically not my first film as I am already working on a project titled Aji Matte Mili Gala Ma Mana Mayuri, both the films will release at the same time.”

Biggies of Odia film industry Uttam Mohanty, Ajit Das were present on the occasion. Also present was actress Riya.
