Bhubaneswar, Sept. 11: Anish Tulsyan, a student of Class V, was excited to learn a few interesting facts about freedom fighters at an exhibition here.
Anish, along with his friends, attended an exhibition titled "New India - We resolve to make" hosted at the Institute of Physics in Bhubaneswar, to know about various freedom struggle movements.
Mahanadi Coalfields Limited in association with the Directorate Of Advertising And Visual Publicity (DAVP) for the ministry of parliamentary affairs conducted the five-day-long exhibition-cum-seminar to commemorate the 75 years of the Quit India Movement and the forthcoming 75 years of Independence in 2022.
On September 9, Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the event. He administered six pledges on vision New India. He felicitated young chess wizard Saina Salonika and state women weightlifters Jhilli Dalabehara and Sneha Soren.
"I learnt about a few names that I had never heard of like Rani Gaidinliu. It was a good learning experience," Anish said. The exhibition focuses on India's freedom movement from 1857 to 1947 displaying various movements such as the First War of Independence, 1857, the Champaran Satyagraha, the Non-Cooperation Movement, the Dandi Yatra and the Quit India Movement.
It was displayed at the exhibition how the struggle for freedom unified the whole country during 1942 to 1947.
A number of discussions on the topic are being held everyday followed by cultural programmes.
Yesterday, S.N. Mishra, dean of school of management at Kalinga Institute of Technology, shared his thoughts on the role of parliamentary democracy in India, its strength and changes.The discussion focused on leadership being the key to the development of a country, which could change the vision of a country.
