Sambalpur: Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) personnel have been deployed at the Hirakud dam to strengthen its security.

The forces have taken charge of the dam security with fool-proof system, the Hirakud dam project's executive engineer Chinmaya Rout told The Telegraph.

Two-hundred OISF personnel, under the leadership of the commandant, have been engaged for the first time to protect the dam after replacing Odisha police. "The OISF personnel will do definitely better in the security system as they have been specially trained for the purpose," said a senior police officer.

However, a deputy superintendent of police-rank officer will continue as the security officer having its office at Hirakud to supervise the entire system and issue security passes to tourists coming from various parts of the country.
