The appointment of a panel of independent directors has given the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) domain
experts to advise the new company on execution of the ambitious project. The BSCL already has eight board members and with the appointment of the independent directors, the special purpose vehicle is now fully formed. The state
government on Monday appointed the five independent directors to BSCL — Madhav Pai, Saveeta Mohanty, Aamer

Madhav Pai is the India director of the WRI Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities. He is the co-founder of EMBARQ India, a leader in urban mobility in India. Pai has global experience in transportation planning. He is a graduate in civil engineering from University of Mumbai and has a masters in transportation from University of California, Berkeley
Saveeta Mohanty works as a faculty member at Xavier Institute of Management in Bhubaneswar. She teaches human resource management, training and development and business communications. Mohanty completed graduation from MS University, Baroda, and later did a PG diploma from XLRI, Jamshedpur, and PhD in human resource management from Utkal University. She has worked for Wipro Corporation, Eastern Media Limited and also as a promoter of Max Care Laboratories Limited
Aamer Azeemi is one of the leading experts on smart cities in India. He has worked as managing director of Cisco Consulting Services, India. Azeemi was the strategy advisor for building the ICT master plan for four smart cities on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. He has worked with IBM, Apple and Wipro. Azeemi had did his graduation in BE (electronics and communication) from Osmania University and MS (bio-engineering) from Texas A&M University in the US
Sandipan Chakravortty was chairman of the Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company). He had completed his BTech and MTech from IIT Kharagpur and later pursued advanced management courses in the US and at Insead (France). Chakravortty brings in wide experience in corporate affairs having worked as the MD of the Tata Ryerson Ltd and also past chairman in the CII-Eastern Region Council
Bhavin Sheth has more than 25 years’ experience in the information and communications technology. He now works as start-up mentor for companies working in the field of smart cities, among others. He has a vast global technology experience having worked in companies such as Cisco Systems, BEA-Oracle and Computer Aid. He graduated from Bombay University in BE (computer engineering) and MS (computer engineering) from Rutgers University at New Jersey in the US
